Stuffed mussels

Stuffed mussels


( Ari kallummakaya/ Ari kadukka ) simplified using idly steamer

Ingredient-
20 Fresh mussels clean and reserve some clean water of mussels
2 cup Par boiled rice
1 cup Grated coconut
1 tbsp Chopped Shallot
3 tsp Fennel seed
curry leaves chopped
salt

For marinate-
2 tsp Chilly powder
½ tsp Turmeric powder
1 tbs ginger and garlic paste or chopped
Oil for frying

Clean the mussels and open the shell (to open the shell insert knife at straight portion of the slit and slide around carefully Clean and keep aside
reserve some clean water of mussels to use for grinding the rice

Wash and soak the rice for 4- 6 hour, Drain rice and mix with grated coconut, shallot, fennel seed, salt and grind with mussels water until get thick dough add chopped curry leaves
Heat water in idly steamer, grease the tray with coconut oil fill the dough on try hole and put each mussel on top see image cover the steamer and steam it for 25-30 minute or done. and let it cool
Take the steamed dough and marinate with chilly powder, turmeric powder, ginger and garlic paste and pinch of salt, And In a pan heat oil and shallow fry marinated mussels both side. Stuffed mussels is ready
(Note: Instead of grinding rice you can use rice flour. For this preparation you have to grind coconut, shallot and fennel seed first then mix this into rice flour and add equal amount of Stuffed mussels water with salt into it (for 1 cup rice flour 1 cup water). Mix properly and make thick smooth dough.)
